Bush lies worse than Kerry, and he DOES have a stake in a timber company. GRRR!
Posted by marstall at October 12, 2004 05:52 PMWell, that proves it scientifically! But if you actually look into many of these "lies", just from the links provided by this obviously partisan piece, you'll find it's a stretch to call them lies, and plenty of qualifiers like "ambiguous", "too hard to call", etc.
I wish people would stop talking about "lies" all the time. It makes them sound like 2-year-olds. "Under my administration, the country has done better than ever before". "LIE!". "I care for poor people". "LIE!". Um, OK, whatever. It also makes the word meaningless for the rare cases where it would actually be applicable.
Posted by: Kai Carver at October 13, 2004 05:28 AMthe "rare cases" where politicians lie? Isn't "Politician" Latin for "lowdown two-timin' lying polecat"?
The American Heritage Dictionary defines "Politician" as "One who seeks personal or partisan gain, often by scheming and maneuvering"
What would politics look like without artifice and deception?

That's an obvious LIE :-D It's only the second of 3 proposed definitions.
Stop LYING everybody!
